To make this process easier, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has provided a set of rules and guidelines. Moreover, besides blocking the lost phones, PTA also provides other services like registering a mobile phone as it is mandatory for the users to get their phones registered with PTA by going through the process and paying the charged PTA mobile registration tax for this purpose.

PTA Guidelines for Block Stolen/ Misplaced Phones

You can get your stolen or misplaced cellular phones blocked in two different ways. However, the first step for this process is to get your SIM card blocked by the SIM provider.

• Reaching out to your nearest PTA office
• Calling their helpline or simply visiting their website.

What are the requirements to get your phone blocked
According to the guidelines which are issued by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), you would be required to have the following details to get your mobile stolen or misplaced phone blocked.

• Complainant’s full name
• Complainant’s National Identity Card copy (CNIC)
• Parent’s name and CNIC copy
• Date of the incident occurrence (when your phone was stolen or misplaced)
• IMEI number of the phone (Two numbers in case of a dual SIM phone)
• Mobile number of the complainant
• Brand, model, and color of the phone
• Complainant’s home address

In case you are not aware of what IMEI means. It is the International Mobile Equipment Identity which is usually printed on the packaging of your cellular device.

Moreover, if you can’t find the IMEI number, you can also dial *#06# on your phone and you will very soon receive a message containing the IMEI of a mobile device. If you’re wondering what use this number would possibly have, you can easily get your mobile phone blocked by using the IMEI number online. All you have to do is simply go to PTA’s website and register a PTA complaint regarding the stolen device along with your phone’s IMEI number.

How to check your phone's status
Once you have reported your mobile phone for blocking to the PTA, it will take a while for them to track it. In case you want to check its status, whether it has been blocked or not, you can do so after 16 hours. There are 3 different options for doing that;

Option 1: Check status via SMS

Send you a 15 digit IMEI number to 8484, you’ll receive a text with the status of your phone.

Option 2: Check status via Website

Visit the Official website of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and click on the “Customer Support” tab. Then move to “Consumer Services” and click on “Stolen Mobile Search” to see the status.

Option 3: Check status via the Mobile App

Download the mobile app of Device Verification System (DVS) DIRBS Pakistan to check the status.

CPLC Mobile Block
One thing to keep in mind is that Pakistan Telecommunication (PTA) is only responsible for blocking your stolen or misplaced phone for PTA check online. In case you want to track down the phone itself, you would need to report the mobile phone theft to the local police for the stolen mobile complaints.

The Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) has records of millions of IMEI numbers, which means that you can report your lost mobile on CPLC very easily.
